It’s been a long while since we’ve had a family trip and we took the opportunity to bring MIL out for a overnighter since she’s a August baby.
Daddykhong booked us into Felda Residence Hot Springs 2 days before the actual trip! A spur of the moment thing.
Being a Tapah girl, I’ve never heard of the hot springs located 9km from Sungkai town, which is turn is only 2 towns (30 mins slow drive) down the KL-Ipoh trunk road from Tapah. Tragic me!
After a lazy Sunday dim sum breakfast with MIL near her place, the 6 of us crammed into our 7-seater and hit the road. It took us an hour to exit at Sungkai and another 15 mins to get to the hot springs. Felda has recently rebranded their hotel there and built several new chalets, adding on 64 deluxe rooms to their facilities. Quite decent place I must say provided they can improve their soft skills.
Soft skills? Puasa-time always means a bit of patience is required but when the hotel cannot trace your booking, and the receptionist who promises to allocate a spare room to us disappears without doing anything for 30 minutes, it became apparent that the only thing “hot” in the neighbourhood wasn’t just the hot springs!
I waited in the car with Aerynn while Braedyn, Shayanne, and MIL followed daddykhong to check-in. With the check-in going awry and MIL nagging in the background, I think daddykhong needed the hot springs to cool down
Fortunately, after a more diligent staff took over, she managed to locate our original booking.

Took this shot of Aerynn in the car – Mummykhong was too bored waiting for Daddykhong to settle the booking issue

The new chalets
The hot springs are the main feature here and there’s lots of variety. We have a massive hot pool, another massive cold pool (which was closed for renovations), several hot baths of varying temperatures, a foot reflexology path that is submerged in hot water, an egg boiling pool, and some water features that feature hot water.
Being very used to the local tourist spots, we were surprised to find the hot springs very clean and free of the usual rubbish. The guards did their job well and cautioned visitors from camping on the grounds, throwing rubbish everywhere, bringing inflatables into the pools, etc.
You can also access the hot springs as a day visitor by paying entrance fees. Prices here

Daddykhong was trying out the hot water foot reflexology with some added weight – HOT and PAINFUL!!! Oucchhh….

Good for old people – look at the temperature. From what daddykhong tells me, the temperatures shown are a tad pessimistic.

The ‘cold pool’ hidden behind the umbrella. We had to show the physical pool to the kids to stop them from whining about it being closed.

On the 1st day, Braedyn was contented with just sitting by the pool side watching Shayanne playing in the water
Note his ‘new’ habit – putting fingers in his mouth whenever he is worried.

Our cheeky little girl
She just loves WATER….

In the meantime, Baby Aerynn was enjoying herself in her own hot pool – bathing in the hotel room’s basin

2nd day – Braedyn finally decided to join his sister in the hot pool

There were 2 ‘belanga’ for people to wash up after the hot pool swim

Soooooo cooolllddddd…..

Shayanne was dead tired after the swim. MIL in the background with her classic “arrrgh, get me out of this sun” look!
The beauty of the hot springs is that the kids can play in the water for as long as they want and we don’t have to worry about them catching a cold. This is definitely a place we will visit again when I am back in Tapah.

And where is the always-elusive Mummykhong? Busy snapping photos while slinging the baby – she was sleeping just at the right time

noticed the prices are quite high…worth the price? looks like a good relaxing place to go huh…but besides hotsprings nothing else to do??
They offer a 20% discount during puasa so after the discount, prices are quite reasonable
It’s just the hot springs and enjoying the laid-back atmosphere in a small town (Sungkai, Bidoh). Just what we like!
looks like an interesting place to go, heard this place before, but i didn’t know there is chalet we can stay overnight.
Your baby so chubby and so do Shayanne!
