Braedyn and Shayanne sleeping in their own room
May 10th, 2009 by khongfamily
With the impending arrival of No.3, we bought a new single bed for Braedyn with the intention for him to sleep there and letting Shayanne have his existing child bed. His new bed arrived 4 days ago and we quickly set it up in his new room.
We replaced the bedsheets on Braedyn’s old bed (still in our master bed room) with pink flowery sheets we bought for Shayanne. For his first afternoon nap since his new bed arrived, we decided to place him on his old bed (with pink sheets) as we were afraid he would be unaccustomed to his new room.
2 hours later, he walks out of the room and says “Mum, I don’t want meimei’s bed. I want to sleep on my bed but too dark (looking inside his own room). I want to put happy face light (in reference to his night light in the shape of a smiley).”
Overjoyed, we shifted his old bed into the same room as his new bed and the both of them happily went to bed in their new room. Of course, they had problems settling to sleep as the room was previously used as their toy room. Both of them insisted in leaving the lights on and helping themselves to their toys and books. This carried on for another hour until they were ready for bed.
It’s been 3 nights since and there have been times when one of them would wake up and cry for us, before settling back to sleep. Overall, they are coping well.
