Happy Mother’s Day

To answer Mumsgather’s meme (errr..a bit too late hor?), there’snothing much that I wish to do on this particular day. Just hope that our little terrors will grow up healthy and happy. I would like to take this opportunity to wish other mummies “Happy Mother’s Day”.

Daddykhong brought us to Bubba Gump on their opening week for an early Mother’s Day celebration. Food was ok but they imported a team from Philippines to train their Malaysian crew and we couldn’t understand what they were saying even though we’re sure it was English!

Happy Anniversary

  1. We met in year 2001.
  2. We registered in year 2003.
  3. We had our reception dinner in year 2004.
  4. Our first baby - Braedyn Khong Jian-Wen was born in year 2005.
  5. Our second baby - Shayanne Khong Xue-Yan was born in year 2007.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, DEAR! Thanks for being a good father of our two lovely little terrors.

I’m now a big boy

Saturday, 3rd May 2008 is a very important day for me. On that day, I started wearing panties (mummykhong: He can’t differentiate between panties and underwear yet! LOL!).

Actually the bigger news is that I stopped wearing diapers 1 whole week prior to wearing panties. If I do have to wear diapers (at night or for long drives), they remain dry.

Sometimes at night, I would wake up in the middle of the night to use the toilet but when I am too tired, I just wee in my diapers :(

Mummykhong says:

Previously we had to remember where the baby rooms are located in the various shopping malls. Nowadays we have to remember where the toilets are and which ones to avoid.

If Braedyn has to pee in the open then we have taught him to ask for permission from his ancestors (Chinese belief to always ask for permission when peeing in the open) but all he says is “Ah Gong, Ah Por….Thank you”. The actual request, he doesn’t say!

April 2008 updates

Nowadays there’s nothing much to write about. Life is quite routine. Here’s what we’ve done so far this month.

Wendy’s @ Sunway Pyramid - 6 April 2008

Finally, Wendy’s is back in Malaysia. I remember the one in Sungei Wang with fond memories.

We brought Braedyn and Shayanne there on their 2nd day of business because we wanted to find out if they are better than Carl’s Junior. I had the chicken something, daddykhong had their 3/4 pounder & Chili, Braedyn had his nuggets (they taste much better than McDonalds) and Shayanne had fun looking at Wendy’s Girls!

Good things never change

Daddykhong waited 20 years for this

Braedyn with his Wendy’s cup

Look at the hair (not the bottom)!

Penang BBQ - 15 April 2008

Corporate dinner on the beach. We just had to drive up after lunch, eat for 4 hours, then drive down to KL again. Tiring for the car.

Our bedtime routine

Daddykhong used to get home around 930pm onwards in the old days. Nowadays he gets home at about 8:55pm!!! despite setting himself a target of 8pm. Well, that’s a story for another day.

We try to rush our dinner and night errands (yes, daddykhong brings back his work to run his night errands - mainly visiting banks to use their wonderful machines). Braedyn knows all the banks now. Maybank is “Tiger Bank”.

The plan is to drop whatever we’re doing at 10pm and make our way home. We expect to get into bed at 11pm to commence our story time and at midnight, it’s lights off. If one of us is up to it, we get up after the kids fall asleep and get some work done in the study. So far, we have been following that schedule pretty well (except for the “waking up to do work” part!).

Braedyn and Shayanne choose the books they want us to read and usually it’s this thick book of short stories which he calls “Horse Book” because his favourite story in the book has a character called “Betsy the Horse”. Shayanne would sit quietly besides Braedyn during story-time. I would read the book, daddykhong would read his old papers (he has a growing pile of newspapers, some from the days when this country used to be ruled by half-baked idiots, to go through).

After story-time, Braedyn will allocate our sleeping positions by saying “Mei Mei sleep there (pointing to the head of the bed), Mummy sleep here (pointing at a spot next to Shayanne), Braedyn sleep Mummy (his grammar needs brushing up), Daddy sleep back (referring to the tail end of the bed)”.

Of course, Daddykhong gets very bored when he’s always at the end of the bed so lately he’s been negotiating with Braedyn to get slotted into the spot next to me with Braedyn taking the end of the bed. It didn’t work initially until 1 day last week, Daddykhong pretended to cry when he didn’t get allocated to the spot next to me. Braedyn then looked worried then quickly said “Daddy sleep mummy. Braedyn sleep back”.

Daddykhong immediately said, “OK, thank you. Lights off” and we all went to bed.

Last Night

Sometimes Shayanne just refuses to sleep. Usually it is not an issue with Braedyn as he goes to bed very tired.

Last night, Shayanne kept playing peekaboo with kor-kor with mummy in-between. She would slowly stand up, give us her cheeky smile and say……..”CHAK!!!”

Braedyn will then laugh and stand up as well. They both sit down and the cycle continues.

After a while, the very tired daddykhong got up, shouted at Braedyn to get to bed, gave Shayanne a spank, only then did she lie down.

A couple of weeks back, Braedyn had a video shoot for a commercial. He was an extra who would appear in the background of a press conference of kids. Here are some photos…..

We managed to sneak into Opal Damansara condo in Sunway Damansara for a preview.

Nice place. Low-density and has a nice resort feel to it. The children loved it.

Braedyn maintaining his weight by drinking lots of milk

Shayanne maintaining her weight by chewing on calcium supplements. She’s a health freak!

Topped up with a generous amount of exercise on the see-saw. This is her first time unaided on the see-saw.

Kor-kor is now big enough to push Mei-mei on the swing.

I’ll tell you why Malaysians made history on 8th March 2008. It’s because Braedyn and Shayanne have been busy campaigning too!

1) Braedyn offering some goodies to a voter

2) The voter accepting the goodies most graciously

3) Braedyn, “That’s a wrap folks. Where do we head now?”. “How about Tesco?”, Shayanne proposes.

The hard work continues at nearby Tesco. Braedyn and Shayanne decided that they won’t waste public funds by investing in an Audi A8. They’ll move around in a supermarket trolley instead.

“Dang, cut so much cost - forgot to hire a driver to trolley us around!”

Today we wake up to a new Malaysia. Congratulations to all Malaysians who have voted for change. Even our state, Selangor, has moved over to Barisan Rakyat and for that, we are most happy.

We are happy because:

  • Khir Toyo can finally have more time for his facials.
  • Chew Mei Fun can get a full-time job at MBPJ as person-in-charge of road repairs.
  • Zakaria’s daughter-in-law can spend more time at his illegal istana to supervise the cleaning crew there.
  • Kota Damansara BN candidate, Zein Isma Ismail, should learn more about the issues that matter to his constituency (such as the preservation of the Kota Damansara Forest Reserve) instead of being such an arrogant bas***d.

The rakyat have spoken - no more race-based politics please. We want a transparent government, a government for ALL Malaysians. Braedyn wants a 5% discount when he buys his new home to start his own family. Shayanne too. They are both 3rd-generation Malaysians and yet, they are treated worse than an Indonesian who moved to Malaysia illegally and secured himself a Malaysian NRIC.

Thank you all.

MIL is always nagging us to go and pray at temples because she believes it will give daddykhong super powers, lots of money (so he can give her some) and to ward off bad spirits (well, the charm she got for our car didn’t seem to work).

This year is supposedly a bad year for snakes and since daddykhong is one snakey fella, I decided to drag him to Thean Hou Temple for some prayers and to show the little terrors what a temple looks like.
